Montpelier Canyon Campground Montpelier Canyon Campground is a popular destination for visitors to the area. It's only about 20 miles from Montpelier and features several hiking trails, as well as a campground with plenty of sites for tents and RVs. The campground has 26 campsites that are available on a first-come basis. These sites do not have water or electricity, but there is a vault toilet available at the campground. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill. Visitors can hike along the trail or take advantage of other activities while they're here. There are two lakes within walking distance of the campground where you can fish or swim in the summertime. The lakes are stocked with trout during the spring months, so they're also good places to go fishing if you don't want to bring your own equipment along with you when staying at this location. Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a 22,000-acre refuge located in Caribou County, Idaho. It was established in 1926 to protect the habitat of migratory waterfowl and other birds. The refuge contains a mix of wetlands and uplands, including dry sagebrush steppe and wetland meadows. The refuge is home to more than 300 species of birds, including over 70 nesting species. Other wildlife includes mule deer, moose, elk, beaver, muskrat, cottontail rabbit, and coyote. Bear Lake provides a habitat for over 20 species of fish, including cutthroat trout and kokanee salmon. North Beach State Park North Beach State Park is a fun place to visit with your RV, especially during the fall. This park has a variety of activities that you can enjoy with your family, including swimming, fishing, and boating. There are also two large campgrounds here if you want to stay overnight. The beach at North Beach State Park is one of the most popular attractions at this park. It's a sandy beach with white sand dunes that make it feel like you're on an island getaway. You can even rent boats or jet skis here if you're looking for some fun in the sun! The North Beach Marina also offers boat rentals for those who want to explore Lake Roosevelt without having to launch their own boat into the water.
